Our Charitable Trust receives and administers settlement assets and other funding for charitable purposes.
As a beneficiary of Te Mana o Ngāti Rangitihi Trust, you can apply for funding from our Charitable Trust.
To achieve one of our main goals of enabling our Iwi members to fulfil their potential we have established funding options in five main areas:

Our Trustees ensure all applications are considered fairly and against the specified criteria. In exceptional circumstances, the Charitable Trust may consider other applications which do not fall within these categories, provided charitable criteria are met and they contribute to the strategic priorities for Te Mana o Ngāti Rangitihi Trust and the Charitable Trust. Community Grant
Who: Registered Iwi members and community organisations.
Criteria: This grant supports programmes or events that focus on community participation and impactful engagement in the community.
Applicants funded within this category will receive a one-off contribution for an event servicing the Ngāti Rangitihi Community.

Kaumātua Grant
Who: Registered Iwi kaumātua
Criteria: This grant supports our kaumātua in maintaining or improving their health and wellbeing.

Please note applications for this year's grant round have now closed. The grant round was open from 1 September 2025 and closed on 30 September 2025.

Grant amounts will be determined by Te Mana o Ngāti Rangitihi Charitable Trust and successful applicants will be paid in October 2025.
Tertiary Education Grant
Who: Registered Ngāti Rangitihi individuals.
Criteria: This grant supports individuals following the successful completion of an academic year to recognise achievement and perseverance in education.
We are excited to announce a new partnership with Māori Education Trust (MET), who will provide additional funding to support our Ngāti Rangitihi tauira in their tertiary journey.
We are also proud Taihonoa Partners of University of Wellington – Te Herenga Waka, who generously match the amount granted by Ngāti Rangitihi Charitable Trust. To be eligible for the Taihonoa grant match, you must be enrolled at Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington and submit your results on the completion of a year of successful study.
Otherwise, you can still apply for our usual Tertiary Education Grant from our Charitable Trust.

The 2025 Tertiary Education Grant application round is open from 1 November and will close on 15 November.
We understand some applicants may not receive their academic results in time for the grant round. Please note:

All applications will be tabled to the Trustees for consideration.

If academic results are not yet available, applications will still be reviewed and final decisions made.
We encourage applicants to provide as much supporting information as possible to assist the Trustees in their decision-making.
Sports Grant
Who: Registered Ngāti Rangitihi individual or sports group.
Criteria: This grant supports individuals or groups who are participating in representative sports, recognising excellent participation and achievement in sports.

Kapa Haka Grant
Who: All registered Ngāti Rangitihi members competing in any of the national kapa haka competitions: Te Mana Kuratahi, Ngā Kapa Haka Kura Tuarua o Aotearoa, and Te Matatini. These competitions are held biannually.
Criteria: This grant recognises excellent participation and achievement in a national kapa haka competition by any registered Ngāti Rangitihi member.
Application details:

Grant rounds will open two months before each competition.

Only one application per individual can be submitted.

An online application form will be available when the grant application round opens for the next competition.
