Iwi Development and Stakeholder RelationshipsOur Iwi Development and Stakeholder Relationships strategy aims to support iwi development projects of high priority for Ngāti Rangitihi, such that the mana of Ngāti Rangitihi iwi is upheld, developed and recognised. Our objectives are quite clear:
1. Ngāti Rangitihi is a cohesive iwi where members:
2. Our marae has facilities that Ngāti Rangitihi whānui can be proud of. 3. Ngāti Rangitihi people are in positions of influence and leadership at local, regional and national levels that they utilise for the benefit of Ngāti Rangitihi and other people. To date the Trust has enabled many kaupapa to take effect, including funding towards the Marae DIY project, funding towards the Te Papa Tākaro o Te Arawa Games 2011, the establishment of the Christchurch Earthquake Assistance Fund and the development of our Iwi Initiatives Fund. We continue to develop the necessary capacity to act as an effective support mechanism for a range of stakeholders within and outside of our iwi for example the Trust held a series of successful Hui-ā-Iwi around the motu during the month of April and continue to meet with local, regional, and national government bodies and Māori organisations to create cohesive working relationships with Ngāti Rangitihi outcomes in mind. Another development we are progressing is a Regional Ngāti Rangitihi network or Taura Here, which essentially is by Ngāti Rangitihi for Ngāti Rangitihi and gives our Ngāti Rangitihi iwi members living outside our rohe to reconnect to home with the support of the Trust. |
